Weekly Schedule 2/14/2022 — Starting The Week With Love
Week 101 - Happy Black Love Day! In advance of Valentine’s Day we celebrate, uplift, and honor Black love in all its forms. From Maiysha Kai (via The Grio):
If Black History Month asks us to reflect on our rich legacy, Black Love Day is a call-to-action to preserve it, intended as a jumping-off point for a year full of positive intention as well as offering “a spiritual, African-centered alternative to the commercialized, and sometimes violent Valentine’s Day,” according to Handy-Kendi‘s African American Holiday Association (AAHA).
We’re also celebrating the release of the Data Dialogues podcast by Movement For Everyone community member, Angela Eaton. Congratulations, Angela!
In the podcast she hosts for Open Environmental Data, Angela interviews two individuals working with environmental data, then hosts a dialogue between those individuals. In listening to the first episode, I started to understand the importance of this data and how we can use it to improve communities for everyone. Please subscribe to her podcast and help spread the word to others.
As it often goes, I came across this SF Chronicle article by Heather Knight close to immediately after listening to Angela’s podcast. She highlights Marcel Moran’s crosswalk mapping project mapping inequality in traffic safety based on socio-economic boundaries.
So this Valentine’s Day practice love for yourself and love for others by slowing down and getting home safely.

9:30am PST - Thursday, 2/17/2022:
ONLINE Balance and Flow GYROKINESIS®
Our February focus is flowing through the seated arm-work, then getting more into legs and pelvis on the floor. Maybe even getting to lying down on our fronts... Remember, there are always options available if you're just not feeling the floor. Have your stool/ chair, two bath towels (blankets, etc.), and some wall space free.
Focusing on the ability of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to increase circulation, mobilize and strengthen joints, and increase proprioceptive awareness, this Zoom class prepares the body for more confidence in standing balance work. Video available if you can't attend live.

Warmly,
